本文用《文心雕龙》的“六观”说来析评莎剧《铸情》(Romeo and Juliet)的各方面,包括主题、风格、文学地位等,指出本剧有其“炳耀仁孝”之处,有其“辞浅会俗”之风。《铸情》的语言华丽,多处用“英雄偶句”和十四行诗,其音乐性、其近于中国戏曲的“曲”元素,我们可用《声律》篇的理论来分析;它常用比喻,我们可透过《比兴》篇的理论来加强认识此剧的审美性;它常用夸张手法,《夸饰》篇的理论正用得着;它多有矛盾语,还有类似中国文学常见的对偶语句,我们可用《丽辞》篇的理论来加以剖析。本文引用《丽辞》篇的“正对”、“反对”等说法,对本剧的对偶语句,作重点式讨论:说明其运用增强本剧语言的华丽风格;并指出对偶语句与本剧的求偶情意和对立情态,或有关联。
