At a time when the Internet was just beginning to be commercialized, the amount of information was not yet plentiful, and most users saw very simple pages. Most Internet service providers (ISPs) at the time chose Netscape’s server products when building websites and providing services. Netscape’s webservers make up the vast majority of markets just like their web browsers. After Microsoft became aware of the problem, it took Netscape a battle to snatch the market, with the result of Microsoft’s Internet Information Server (known as IIS) coming home.
