Using the data of 50 years’ maximum frozen soil depth, average winter temperature, extreme minimum temperature and extreme minimum ground temperature of Kashi, Shache, Bachu and Taxkorgan counties in Kashi Prefecture from 1961 to 2010, Using the method of climatic trend coefficient and climatic tendency rate, the change of the maximum frozen soil depth in Kashi area since 1961 was analyzed. The results show that the mean annual maximum frozen soil depth in the plain of Kashgar region is 48.1 cm, and the difference between the maximum and minimum depths is 82 cm. The interannual variability shows an obvious decreasing trend with a variation tendency of -3.8 cm / 10 a, the interdecadal variation gradually decreases in a step-like manner, and the decrease of the permafrost depth is mainly affected by the increase of the average winter temperature. The temperature of permafrost decreases by 7.75 cm for every 1 ℃ rise in temperature. The mean maximum frozen soil depth in the mountainous area is 148.8 cm. The difference in depth between the maximum and minimum values was 88 cm. The interannual variability showed an overall decreasing trend with a tendency of -2.5 cm / 10 a.
