This article describes the relationship between white blood cell count, smoking and lung function. The authors observed three groups of workers, divided into smokers, former smokers and non-smokers. Respiratory flow measurements were performed in two facilities, including three pulmonary functions PEV_1, FVC, MMEF, and leukocyte counts. After statistical analysis, drawn smoking, lung function and white blood cell count the relationship between the three. There were no significant differences in respiratory symptoms and lung function changes between occupational and noncontaminated workers. Now smokers than non-smokers or past smokers, the white blood cell count was significantly higher.
