The Cantonese Opera Guild Organization Bahe Guild Hall is the home base for Cantonese opera artists. It is also the place where the troupes negotiate business with the main parties who come to buy the plays and sign contracts. They also act as temporary shelters for the singers before or during the casual classes. The Old Eight Hall was destroyed by Japanese artillery during World War II. After the war, eight children at home and abroad funded the construction of the New Badawi Hall and put it into use in early 1947. After the war, the Cantonese opera guilds carried out some new changes in the guild name, organization, business management and power distribution, laying a solid foundation for the revival and prosperity of the Cantonese opera.
