Wu Lanlan ted sixteen just a few weeks ago. A normal, young girl, she was maturing fast, brought up as she was on a healthy diet and the clean environment around her home. She lived with her parents in a large Soviet-style multi-apartment building in the suburbs of Shenyang in North China, with its freezing cold winters and long days of white light.Lanlan saw herself as a young lady and, like a bird ready to spread its wings and begin its first transcontinental (大陆那边的) flight, she felt ready to spread her own wings of experience and begin a flight into a world largely obscured by her parents attempts to cloister(远离尘世) her.
