The toxicity of hexavalent chromium compounds has been recognized, but its impact on pregnant women or mothers has not received sufficient attention. Soviet scientists have studied this. They classified pregnant women into three groups, the first of which was 40 women directly engaged in the production of dichromate; the second group consisted of 30 women living near the dichromate production plant; the last group were those living in non-chemical District 15 women.
