本文讨论了知识经济的意义及其与图书馆的关系，介绍了发达国家在图书馆自动化、数字化、网络化等方面的进展。在此基础上，作者认为，要发展中国图书馆事业，必须转变观念，进一步确立图书馆作为现代信息中心的观念；图书馆自身要进行调整，使之不断适应发展中的经济格局；要加快图书馆信息化进程，为图书馆现代化奠定技术基础；图书馆学教育应依据变化了的条件进行相应的教学改革；要不断加深对中国特色的图书馆现代化规律的认识。
This article discusses the significance of knowledge economy and its relationship with the library, and introduces the progress of the developed countries in library automation, digitization and networking. On this basis, the author believes that in order to develop the cause of Chinese libraries, we must change our concepts and further establish the concept of libraries as modern information centers. The libraries themselves must make adjustments so as to adapt themselves to the developing economic patterns. Library information process, laying the technical foundation for library modernization; library education should be based on the changing conditions of the corresponding teaching reform; to continue to deepen the understanding of the law of library modernization with Chinese characteristics.
