In 2005, the three major airlines appeared Air China’s “thriving” phenomenon, many blame the soaring fuel prices, while ignoring the domestic airlines cost management loopholes. In this paper, Air China and Cathay Pacific comparative analysis of fuel costs, staff costs, fleet, network economy and other aspects to find out Air China’s fuel economy, employee efficiency, asset utilization and other aspects of the deficiencies and make recommendations for improvement. The three major aviation groups in 2005 are better than the overall management of the business in 2004 but the performance has declined.
