为改进和加强设备管理,提高设备管理现代化水平,改善企业技术装备素质,实现优质、高效、低耗、安全生产和提高经济效益,国家经委于一九八四年决定设立全国设备管理优秀单位奖、开展设备管理评优活动,表彰在设备管理工作中作出优异成绩的单位。 经各省、自治区、直辖市经委和国务院有关部门、直属机构复查和推荐,全国设备管理优秀单位奖评委会和评优领导小组评定,并经国家经委批准,决定授予四川成都量具刃具总厂、鞍山钢铁公司、吉林化学工业公司等一百个单位1984—1985年全国设备管理优秀单位的称号,颁发奖杯和证书。同时决定授予九十七个单位1984～1985年全国设备管理先进单位的称号,颁发奖状。全国设备管理优秀单位和全国设备管理先进单位将在第二次全国设备管理维修工作座谈会上表彰,名单将由全国性报刊发表,以资鼓励。
