These three phenomena belonged to Barthes’ connotation code in semiotic theory. Of these, Onegin appeared almost overnight at night, in keeping with his image as a devil. Tatyana is also frequent at night, but the occasions she appears are always accompanied by the moon. She is the incarnation of the moon goddess, a symbol of nature and chastity. In addition, the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter convey important connotations in their works, which are of great value to the understanding of the theme of the work.
