Carl Scharber (1878-1967), American poet, historian, folklorist, novelist. His Chicago Poetry was published in Poetry in 1914. He praised the workers in a free Whitman-style freelance poem “Smoke and Steel” (1920), and affirmed the people’s advancement in the Great Depression of 1936, “The People, Be Sure.” His folk songs are popular with the audience. He wrote six volumes of Lincoln Chronicles, of which the last four volumes of Lincoln who wrote the war years won the Pulitzer Prize for History. The memorial rock, published in 1948, summarizes the history of the United States from 1620 to the Second World War. His Complete Collection of Poems was published in 1950. Sondberg’s poetry is rough, passionate, uninhibited, magnificent, while others are graceful and exquisite, as if exquisitely carved art treasures. He was hailed as a loyal and brilliant successor to Whitman, one of the greatest American poets of the 20th century. This publication has introduced Sondberg’s poem, and the Sternberg International Symposium is heard to be held in China. The author hereby publishes three short poems from this famous poet in order to readers.
