Objective To investigate the role of AG in judging neonatal asphyxia and recent prognosis. Methods 142 neonates with term asphyxia were grouped according to Apgar score. The relationship between different degree of asphyxia and AG value and the relationship between different AG values and NBNA scores on the 14th and 28th day were compared. Results There was significant difference in AG value between mild and severe asphyxia group (P <0.01). There was significant difference in NBNA score between the high AG group and the normal AG group on the 14th and 28th day (P <0.05). Conclusion AG value can be used as an important indicator of neonatal asphyxia and recent prognosis.
