I. INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW In the past few years, great interest has been shown in millimeter wave technology and significant progress has been made in this technical field. The millimeter-wave frequencies range from 35 gigahertz, centered on 94 gigahertz, to the atmospheric windows of 140 gigahertz and 220 gigahertz. The main interest has been in the application of this technology to missile guidance; additional interest has been in millimeter-wave radar and fuses. The rekindling interest in millimeter-wave technology stems in part from the realization that stagnation will occur as infrared technologies become more mature and reach their limits. Therefore, the millimeter wave has shown its importance due to its unique atmospheric penetration performance, which is greatly promoted by the development of high performance and low cost millimeter wave devices. It seems solid state device technology
