Zeng and his team at the University of Nebraska Lincoln succeeded in revealing the molecular characterization of Au68 protected by 32 pairs of sulfhydryl groups. The nanocluster structure can be used for drug carriers and catalysts. As shown in the figure, a team led by Zeng, a chemist at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, reported an atomic arrangement of Au nanoclusters of about 1.7 nm in length that approximates the growth of human finger nails 2s.
