Heart failure secondary to loss of cardiomyocytes is poor prognosis, primarily because cardiomyocytes are not regenerative. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are considered as a kind of cells with multidirectional differentiation potential, which can obviously improve heart function after transplanted into damaged heart. For a long time, people think that BMSCs mainly improve cardiac function by differentiating into cardiomyocyte-like cells, however, this view is being questioned more and more. Paracrine behavior of BMSCs plays a role in repairing the heart. At the same time, it inhibits the proliferation of T lymphocytes and avoids immune regulation of rejection, which brings new clues to the mechanism of BMSCs repair of heart.
