鉴于美国中小学中文教师匮乏,近年来美国不少高校各辟蹊径,寻找培养中文教师的有效方法。本文以新泽西州威廉·柏特森大学最近几年培养汉语教师的实践为例,探讨在美国本土如何利用非传统方式获取教师资格证书(Alternate Route or Alternate Certification)的途径来加速培养汉语教师。文章将考察非传统方式获取教师资格证书的特点和这种方式适合目前美国汉语教师培训的原因,并将重点讨论柏特森大学中文教师培养项目的课程设置和教学安排如何满足目前汉语教师培养和学生的特殊需要,以及影响非传统方式汉语教师培训成败的有关问题。
In view of the scarcity of Chinese teachers in primary and secondary schools in the United States, many colleges and universities in the United States have tried their best to find effective ways to cultivate Chinese teachers in recent years. This paper, based on the practice of cultivating Chinese language teachers by William Berthson University in New Jersey in recent years, explores ways to accelerate the training of Chinese language teachers in the United States using nontraditional means of obtaining Alternate Route or Alternate Certification. The article will examine the characteristics of non-traditional way of obtaining teacher’s qualification certificate and the reasons that this method is suitable for the current training of Chinese teachers in the United States. The article will focus on how the curriculum and teaching arrangement of Chinese teacher training program at Burson-Marsteller meets the current training of Chinese teachers The special needs of students and related issues that affect the success or failure of training of non-traditional Chinese teachers.
