Twenty years ago, when I was a 20 year old RAF pilot, I was curious about the meaning of “health” in psychology. I find it particularly lacking in knowledge about this subject, and it can be said that there is even a particularly lack of interest in this issue. Eventually I realized that I had to find for myself the meaning of “health”. This search led me to start psychiatric research and practice, followed by research and practice of various forms of psychotherapy, and finally to working with groups and families. In 1976, I gathered what I knew about family health and dysfunction in a textbook.
