Modern macroeconomics often seems to see rapid and steady economic growth as the top priority of its policies. This view is endless in the political debate, in the central bank meeting room and in the headlines of the press. But is it wise to see economic growth as the key social goal that economic textbooks absolutely recognize as permanent?
