OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression of Id-1 and VEGF in gastric carcinoma and its relationship with the clinicopathological parameters of gastric carcinoma, and to explore the clinicopathological significance. Methods: The expressions of Id-1 and VEGF in 60 cases of gastric cancer tissues, 60 cases of paracancerous tissues and 30 cases of normal gastric mucosa were detected by immunohistochemical SP method. Results: The positive rates of Id-1 in gastric cancer tissues, adjacent non-cancerous tissues and normal gastric mucosa tissues were 73.3% (44/60), 21.7% (13/60) and 6.7% (2/30) respectively. 78.3% (47/60), 28.3% (17/60) and 13.3% (4/30), respectively. The expression of Id-1 and VEGF had statistical significance in different differentiation degree, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis (P <0.05), but no significant difference with age and sex, P> 0.05. Conclusion: The increased expression of Id-1 and VEGF is closely related to the occurrence and development of gastric cancer. The high expression of Id-1 in gastric cancer may be through the VEGF pathway to promote tumor angiogenesis.
