OBJECTIVE: To determine neonatal hyperbilirubinemia through brain auditory evoked potential (BAEP) and to understand the damage of hyperbilirubin to neonatal central nervous system. Methods: 100 cases of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia were examined by ZABR-200 brainstem response, and 30 cases of neonatal pneumonia were checked. Results: Compared with the two groups, 42 cases (42%) had normal BAEP and 58 cases (58%) had abnormal BAEP in X ~ 2 = MM and P <0.001. Conclusion: Different degrees of hyperbilirubinemia can cause central nervous system damage. The higher the bilirubin is, the higher the abnormal rate of BAEP is, and the more severe the abnormality is. BAEP high sensitivity, small influencing factors, accurate and reliable results for the auditory neurotransmission of bilirubin to determine the role of neurotoxicity indicators.
