Ida Cumbrette, a well-known poet, novelist, newspaper critic, and biographer in the colonial period of Australia, plays a decisive role in the literary field of colonial Australia. However, the traditional concept greatly excludes female literature as “alternative”. There is no doubt that Ida will inevitably fall into the same predicament. The purpose of this essay is to make a deeper discussion on the creative theme of the prolific Australian women writer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, to clarify Ida’s position as a great female writer in Australian colonial literature and to further explain that she is the most Bold female writer.
