Deng Xiaoping’s thinking on science and technology is very rich and involves many aspects such as the social function of science and technology, the direction of development, institutional reform, opening to the outside world and talent cultivation. These thoughts and views permeate the theory and practice of building socialism with Chinese characteristics. They have distinctive characteristics of the times and a complete theoretical system, and are an important part of Deng Xiaoping Theory.
