History has recorded such names as the Dark Ages, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the Gilded Age, the thriving 1920s and the Cold War. It is understandable not to envision a world in which Reagan, Gorbachev and the Berlin Wall existed. However, it is impossible to understand the status quo without making any predictions. It is impossible for us to isolate our present from the past nor to separate the present from the future. Therefore, we invite some of the world’s most challenging thinkers to analyze the status quo, look to the future, understand the new era we have entered, anticipate where we are going and give the post-Cold War world a proper nomenclature. - “Foreign Policy” Editorial Department
