Cadmium can affect mouse peritoneal macrophages (M) phagocytosis of chicken erythrocytes. In order to explore the relationship between prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and phagocytosis, the level of PGE2 in peritoneal fluid of mice was determined after cadmium exposure. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the phagocytic rate and phagocytic index between the low cadmium group and the control group (P> 0.05) 2 weeks after drug administration. The phagocytic rate and phagocytic index of the high cadmium group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P <0.01). The phagocytic rate of indomethacin plus cadmium group was significantly higher than that of high cadmium group (P <0.05) <0.01). The level of PGE2 was negatively correlated with macrophage phagocytosis (R = 0.6663, P <0.01). The above experimental results show that high-dose cadmium has a significant inhibitory effect on macrophage phagocytosis in mice, and PGE2 plays an important role in the role of cadmium in phagocytosis of M phagocytes.
