The flowering of bamboo is one of the taboo customs of Han nationality because bamboo is asexual reproduction of underground stems and blooms only when it is dead or water, drought and insect infestations. As a result, people in some places are reminded of the association between famine, disasters and hunger. Therefore, the Han people regarded bamboo as a taboo before fleeing from famine and chaos in times of trouble. In the southern subtropics, bamboo is the more common plant, although common, but people see it when flowering is not much. Since bamboo does not bloom like a flower-like plant every year, some people mistakenly believe that bamboo does not flowering. In fact, bamboo is a flowering plant, to a certain age, but also strong flowering, and then into pieces die.
