The formation of the East China Sea Basin is closely related to the structure of the Chinese mainland. This paper briefly discusses the geological evolution of the East China Sea and analyzes the spatial differences in the geological evolution of the East China Sea continental shelf and the eastern depression (Okinawa Trough). The results show that the East China Sea is the northwestern Pacific trench- A young marginal sea in the arc-basin system. The author believes that the mid-Miocene - the latter part of the Triassic is a favorable oil-producing period. It also points out that the Jurassic uplift in the central part of the East China Sea, while the western part may be a shallow-sea or sedimentary basin with a sea-land interaction phase, is also an oil-forming environment worth noting.
