I. Introduction For a long time, cultivating students’ communicative competence and language ability has been the sole core goal of English teaching. In the reading class, most teachers attach importance to the analysis and understanding of textual rationality as well as the training and application of language skills, while neglecting the culture and values of the English-speaking countries reflected in the text, ignoring the educational value of English subjects.
