Objective: To explore the effect of different fitness methods on the quality of life and physical fitness of the elderly in the community. Methods: A total of 100 senile patients selected from a trial group from March 2012 to March 2013 were selected and randomly divided into control group and study group (n = 50). The QOL scores and body shape, body function and physical fitness of the two groups before and after exercise were compared. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in pre-exercise activities, daily life, health, recent support and general spirit (P> 0.05). Compared with pre-exercise, there were significant differences between the two groups in activity, daily life, health, recent support and general spirit (P <0.05). However, the study group’s activity, daily life, health, recent support, overall spirit score was significantly higher than the control group (P <0.05). The systolic and diastolic blood pressure of study group patients decreased significantly after intervention, compared with before exercise, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05); after exercise, vital capacity, grip strength and lower limbs balance ability were significantly increased, compared with the pre-exercise, the difference was statistically (P <0.05). There was a significant difference between the two groups after exercise (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the control group before and after exercise (P> 0.05). Conclusion: Long-term regular aerobic exercise can significantly improve the quality of life and physical fitness of the elderly in the community.
