In 1988, the world’s binoculars sold 7.5 million units, and the United States, Japan, West Germany, the United Kingdom, and France accounted for 88% of sales. Among them, 3.6 million were in the United States, accounting for 48% of the total; 1.55 million were in Japan, accounting for 21%; 600,000 were in West Germany, accounting for 8%; 55,000 were in England, accounting for 7%; and 300,000 were in France, accounting for 4%. The 3.6 million binoculars imported from the United States were mainly supplied by Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea, accounting for the number of imports.
