Objective To investigate the clinical features of sputum bacteria in patients with lower respiratory tract infection and to understand the distribution of pathogenic bacteria to provide the basis for the treatment of patients with lower respiratory tract infection. Methods Sixty patients with lower respiratory tract infection admitted to Central Hospital of Benxi, Liaoning Province from November 2010 to October 2013 were selected as study objects, and the results of TB culture and smear examination were analyzed. Results Among the 60 patients, 38 strains of pathogens were detected by sputum samples, among which 10 were fungi (26.3%), 11 (28.9%) were gram-positive cocci and 17 (44.7%) were gram-negative bacilli. Conclusions In patients with lower respiratory tract infection, sputum culture is performed. Based on these results, drug susceptibility testing can effectively change the medication mode of patients, minimize the use of antibiotics and improve the rationality of medication.
