Current Blu-ray Discs have a life span of more than 50 years. The reliability of optical storage is much higher than that of hard disks, and their life span is much longer than that of magnetic tapes. However, the drawbacks of smaller single-disc capacities and lower access performance limit the advantages of compact discs in large-scale archiving systems application. A new type of optical disk library system with auto-changer for large-capacity robots is proposed. This system can accommodate 12000 Blu-ray Discs in a standard size cabinet. Dozens of optical drives can read and write in parallel, and the throughput rate of the system reaches 1 GB / s . In addition to a high degree of parallelism, a magneto-optical fused architecture and a virtualized storage mechanism are used. With magnetoelectricity as a large-capacity cache for optical storage, access performance is improved, and a large amount of optical disc storage space is virtualized into a single file volume storage pool. The system’s CD scheduling, burning and reading are fully automated and provided to the user’s universal file access interface. The combination of these technologies not only gives play to the advantages of large capacity, long life, low cost and low energy consumption of optical storage media, but also overcomes the shortcomings of slow speed and low performance of the optical storage system and provides a user-friendly interface and environment. Achieve seamless integration with existing information systems.
