在人工智能研究中,人工神经元网络进路之成功促使我们重新思考语言在人类认知活动中的作用。人类语言是一维符号系统,但世界是四维的,因此语言难以有效地记录事物的时空结构信息。人类大脑中的表征系统很可能是多维而非一维的。人类语言的主要功能是在大脑间传递对世界的多维表征而不是用一维符号序列去表征世界。分析哲学中的所谓语言转向夸大了语言在人类认知活动中的作用,提供了一幅关于人类认知活动的不真实的图画。
In artificial intelligence research, the success of artificial neural networks has prompted us to rethink the role of language in human cognitive activity. Human language is a one-dimensional symbology, but the world is four-dimensional, so the language is difficult to effectively record the temporal and spatial structure of things. The characterization system in the human brain is likely to be multi-dimensional rather than one-dimensional. The main function of human language is to convey the multidimensional characterization of the world in the brain rather than characterize the world with one-dimensional symbolic sequences. The so-called linguistic shift in analytic philosophy exaggerates the role of language in human cognitive activity and provides an unrealistic picture of human cognitive activity.
