Objective: To investigate the serum levels of umbilical cord blood and gestational maternal mothers during delivery. Methods: The levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein (LDL-C) and low density lipoprotein (LDL-C) were measured in 172 pregnant mothers. Results: The blood levels of TC, TG, LDL-C and LDL-C in pregnant mothers were all higher than those in umbilical blood serum. The levels of TG and LDL-C in newborns with family history of hypertension were higher than those in control group Hypertension family history of newborns), HDL-C levels lower than the control group; but TC levels were no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05). Neonatal umbilical blood TG and LDL-C levels and the mother’s blood lipid levels correlated positively. Conclusion: The level of umbilical blood lipids in neonates is related to the level of maternal lipids and family history of hypertension. Therefore, pregnant women with a family history of high blood pressure should pay attention to supplement high protein and moderate low-fat, low-sugar nutrition to enhance the protective effect on the blood vessel wall.
