《字汇》由首末两卷和正文十二卷组成。首卷除了梅膺祚之兄梅鼎祚写的序外,还有《凡例》《运笔》《从古》等六篇,涉及到字典的形、音、义、检等方面内容。《字汇》将凡例独立出来,加强了字典的检索功能。正文十二卷每卷一集,以十二地支的名称命名,并依据汉字的具体情况采用多种注音及释义方式对汉字进行标音释义。卷末还有辨似、醒误、韵法直图、韵法横图四篇。 “Vocabulary” consists of two volumes of the first volume and the second volume of the text.
