近年来,人们用人工合成的方法制成了一种“砂子”。利用这种砂子,可以除去天然水中杂质,得到纯度很高的水。这种高纯度的水是制药工业、研究工作中不可缺少的。在制糖工作中,利用这种砂子可以脱色和去除杂质,提高产量4—11%。利用这种砂子,可以从海水中提取贵金属(如金等),可以分离性质十分相似、很难分离的稀有元素。还可以利用它从工业企业的废水中回收有用的金属,例如从电影制片厂里的废水中可以提取银,从人造丝工厂的废液中提取铜等。这种砂子的功用在不断地扩大着,在近几年来,它已经成为国防、工业、医药、分析、研究工作等各方面不可缺少的一个重要工具了。
