地理是一门综合性很强的学科。它不仅包括自然地理中天文、气象、地质等空间性、动态性很强的理科类知识,还包括人文地理中人口、资源、环境、工农业布局等较为抽象的理论化的文科类内容,其综合性、复杂性、广泛性十分突出。因此,教师单靠传统的教学手段很难把众多的地理现象和地理事物呈现在学生面前,难以达到教学目的和要求。而在教学中借助多种媒体,即利用现代化电教媒体(幻灯、投影、录像机、计算机等),并结合传统媒体(模型、挂图等)来帮助学生认识复杂的地理事物,则可实现教学的最优化。
