ESP教学必须与文化教学结合进行。否则,ESP学习者不能适应多领域跨文化交往的需要;导致交际障碍的文化差异源于社会交际文化,而交际文化随时间不断变更,现代社会活生生的交际文化应是ESP的重点;英语已成为通向国际技术和贸易的桥梁。这一事实要求ESP不但有责任向学习者介绍英国文化,本族文化,还有必要让他们了解非英语国文化,力求使他们跨越一切交际障碍,进行有效交际。
ESP teaching must be combined with cultural teaching. Otherwise, ESP learners can not meet the needs of multi-field intercultural communication. The cultural differences that lead to communicative barriers stem from social communicative cultures, which are changing over time. Living culture in modern society should be the focus of ESP. English has become A bridge to international technology and trade. This fact requires that ESP not only have the responsibility to introduce the British culture and the native culture to the learners, but also make it necessary for them to understand the non-English-speaking culture and strive to make them cross all communication barriers and communicate effectively.
