Hexane is a solvent that causes peripheral neuropathy. Several times assume that its toxicity may be through metabolites. Thus, the neurotoxicity of Hexanol-1 and Hexanol-2, the major metabolites of hexane, was studied. The rats were injected subcutaneously with the compound for 8 months. Hexanol-1 is suspected of causing neurotoxic symptoms in the peripheral nervous system. Hexanol-2 elicits neurophysiologically and histologically verifiable peripheral neuropathy.
