[Objective] To understand the current situation of secondhand smoke exposure in college students in Shanghai, analyze its influencing factors and provide the basis for tobacco control work in colleges and universities. [Method] The stratified and multi-stage cluster random sampling was conducted in 65 colleges and universities in Shanghai. A total of 4 593 non-smoking college students from 19 colleges and universities were collected. The self-administered questionnaires were used to investigate the second-hand smoke exposure and its influencing factors . Using chi-square test, t test, multivariate logistic regression analysis and other methods for statistical analysis. [Results] The exposure rate of second-hand smoke in college students in Shanghai was 63.5%. Among them, the exposure rate of second-hand smoke in specialty colleges was higher than that of undergraduate colleges (74.2%); the exposure rate of boys to second-hand smoke (72.9%) was significantly higher than that of girls (57.1%); Among them, the exposure rate of second-hand smoke to senior students was 69.4%, which was significantly higher than that of freshmen (58.8%), the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that there were cigarettes sold in colleges, males and schools, tobacco advertisements, marketing and sponsorship in schools, smoking in faculty teachers, and smoking in classmates were risk factors of exposures to secondhand smoke (P <0.05) School regulations prohibiting smoking and participating in school tobacco control activities are the protective factors of exposure to secondhand smoke (P <0.05). [Conclusion] The situation of secondhand smoke exposure of undergraduates in colleges and universities in Shanghai is severe, and a perfect smoking ban should be established to promote the creation of smoke - free campuses.
