Survivin is a recently discovered new type of apoptosis-inhibiting protein, which is related to cell division and proliferation and expressed in embryonic tissues and malignant tumors. However, it is not expressed or weakly expressed in normal adult differentiated tissues. Although endometriosis (EMs) is a benign disease, it has “malignant” biological behaviors such as invasion, implantation and recurrence. Studies have shown that the anti-apoptotic function of survivin protein may play an important role in the occurrence and development of EMs, and its biological characteristics and its role in EMs are summarized.
