冷水北沟铅锌矿床赋存于元古界栾川群和管道口群内,矿体受断裂破碎带及矽卡岩带的控制。矿石类型可分为热液脉型和矽卡岩型,矿体围岩蚀变强烈。根据矿床地质-地球化学特征,结合矿石的矿物共生组合、铅和硫同位素组成及成矿年龄、包裹体成分及特征,认为该矿床的矿源为岩浆岩,成矿溶液主要来自岩浆水和大气降水的混合溶液,矿床成因类型属中高温条件下形成的热液脉型-矽卡岩型矿床。
