《梅氏日记》是荷兰人菲利普·梅为东印度公司撰写的一份文件,记录1661年4月30日至1662年2月9日郑成功统领军队渡海东征的具体状况。梅氏用生动的文字描述郑成功的英雄形象,介绍郑军英勇作战,打败荷兰军队,攻克普罗岷西亚城堡,迫使荷兰总督揆一于1662年2月1日献热兰遮城堡,向郑成功投降的全过程。郑成功胜利收复台湾,废除荷兰殖民政治制度,建立同大陆一样的府县政权,并领导军民屯垦,发展经济,制定乡镇和城市建设规划,为实现台湾成为“繁荣的大社会”而奋斗。郑成功致力开发建设台湾,为国捍卫疆土,为民造福,受人民崇敬与爱戴,被尊为“开台圣王”。
