长期以来,在我国书史学术界,关于书籍的装帧形式,一直流传着“经折装又称梵夹装”的说法。即认为:梵夹装=经折装;经折装=梵夹装。以至于《辞海》、《中国书史》等具有一定权威性的辞书和教科书也以此为定论。如:郑如斯、肖东发先生编《中国书史》1987年版104页,《辞海(缩印本)》1979年版,1304页中均说:“梵夹装即经折装。”经考证,实则不然。笔者最近在豫南地区进行古籍考查过程中看到了国内唯一至今仍保存完好的半部唐代《贝叶经》,此经装帧形式完好,是真正的梵夹装。共262叶,重2393.5克,长50公
