回顾了结构工程基础研究20年来在中国的发展。梳理了国家自然科学基金委员会在过去20年中对结构工程学科的资助概况与资助重点;总结了结构工程学科主要研究方向上包括结构工程材料、结构试验技术、结构健康监测技术、结构计算理论、结构抗灾设计理论、结构振动控制、新型结构体系、结构耐久性研究及生命线工程研究等9个方面的重要研究进展。对未来20年结构工程学科基础研究包括材料科学的创新、力学基础理论的发展、多重灾害研究的深入、结构监测与结构控制、结构耐久性研究的发展、第三代工程结构设计理论等的发展做出了分析与展望。
