名贯中西的钟鼎文博士,生于1914年,安徽人,现寓居台北,乃台湾诗界泰斗,为台湾光复后,台湾诗坛三位新诗开拓者之一(另两位一为诗人覃子豪,另一位为《现代诗》刊创办人纪弦和)。现已九旬高龄,仍然精神矍铄,笔耕不辍。奔走于两岸诗歌、文化建设事业,1991年以80高龄之躯,亲率台湾诗友前来北京参加艾青诗歌国际讨论会。他虽然身为文坛大师,但作风朴素,平等待人,与人和善,故有谦恭君子之美誉。钟鼎文先生早年入上海吴淞中国公学,后转学北京大学,1933年留学日本京都帝国大学。20世纪三十年代初,开始写作,以“番草”之笔名发表新诗,受到中国诗坛重视。抗日战争前夕回国,曾执教
Dr. Zhong Dingwen, a native of both China and the West, was born in 1914 in Anhui province. Now he lives in Taipei. He is a Taiwanese poet who is one of the pioneers of Taiwanese poetry after the restoration of Taiwan.
