中國科學院昆蟲研究所的前身是昆蟲研究室,成立於1950年8月,隸屬於實驗生物研究所,當時工作人員共只10人左右。由於實際工作的需要,這個單位也逐步地發展起來,在1953年1月正式成立為昆蟲研究所。他們的工作是結合農業、林業等生產上的需要,以及人畜保健事業上的害蟲問題。目前該所的工作分為四組:1、生理生態組,2、分類形態組,3、生物防除組,4、藥劑毒 Institute of Entomology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, formerly known as Insect Laboratory, was established in August 1950, under the Institute of Experimental Biology, when a total of only about 10 staff.
