This article describes a monitor that uses a continuous, phase-contrast ultrasound to determine the relative position of a pair of ultrasound detectors whose ultrasound is generated by a remote sound source. It has been used to measure the vertical and horizontal rotation of the head, and can easily be extended to measure the rotation or translation of any other part of the body. The device enables high-sensitivity recording over a wide range of spatial and dynamic ranges. Although the device has good linearity and channel-to-channel isolation, a computer-based linear / calibration circuit is introduced to further improve linearity and reduce crosstalk. The device has the advantages of simple structure, low price and experiment
