Abstract: A narration of the experience of a person’s studying, working and the captivation, exertion and enjoyment of it.
Key words: studying teaching enjoying
Supposing a person is more than 40 years old now, successful to some extent, would he recall exactly the circumstances of the first day at the age of 18 when he first entered the university? And would he expect at that time what he could ever become today?
Maybe each of us was out of self-confidence at first when he just became a new-comer at the university. In the first year his study record was merely fair to middling. His single asset was perseverance, though he felt to meditating about the reason for the existence of a university. To his mind it was a kind of social superiority created and supported by the countrywith umpteen financial investment. This superiority was given him as to others. Now he had this share, how hard he must try to turn it to the best possible account, the lynchpin lying in his learning over backwards! What he did was studying, laborious studying.
And then he maybe became an English teacher after graduation. His passion for studying kept higher even after he had a satisfactory job. He knew a lot about educations abroad from English magazines and newspapers. Comparing them with those in his own country he could not helping feeling disheartened and that he for one had the absolute responsibility to make some contribution towards his country’s reconstruction. For better teaching he frequented the library now and then and plunged himself into browsing in books and collecting reference materials. He allowed himself only snacks in order to save time for study and cut the time for rest down to the minimum. His average daily work consumed 14-15 hours. Finally his headmaster appreciated him very much and praised him frequently in mass meetings. He was satisfied with himself.
Continually he has been teaching many English courses such as Television University English, Financial English, The National Professional English Examination. Also he compiled three-four teaching manuals in his spare time.
“Live and learn”. For an excellent person, it is “Live and learn and contribute”. He loves his work. He loves his lifestyle. It is only exertion of working and studying that is his philosophy and is the enjoyment in his life.
“All work no play makes jack a dull boy.” Of course, he has many hobbies after work ---singing, dancing, photographing and maybe Beijing Opera. Active and colorful life he is having!
