英语教学的目的就是要培养学生的独立阅读能力和应用语言的能力。新课程理念下的阅读教学以培养和提高学生的阅读能力为重点,将阅读策略有机地使用在任务型阅读教学中。这种全方位的阅读教学设计改变了以往为阅读而阅读,始终围绕着语法知识和课文内容转的、狭隘的阅读教学观。GOFORIT从八年级下册开始,每个单元都增加了一篇平均200—300左右词的阅读材料,文章体裁以记叙文和说明文为主,内容丰富,涵盖科技、文化、礼仪和生活常识等方面,学生可以从这些阅读材料中收获大量的课外知识和信息,很是新颖。
